Sustainability: These Palo Santo sticks are made from only naturally dead branches and trunks, without cutting down any living trees or damaging the surrounding area. There is not harvesting, but recollecting (picking up) of naturally dead Palo Santo. The fallen trees and branches have had at least two years rest before they are gathered. This process allows the medicinal properties and scent to form. A cut tree has no value, since it does not contain the medicinal properties of the Palo Santo, nor does it have aroma. The communities that live in the area rely on the essential income from the Palo Santo.
